I wrote this tune to be somewhat vague. I got the inspiration from someone back in the mid 80's about a Vietnam Vet who went on a hunger strike in the local region. I grabbed some elements from the First Blood (Rambo) movies as well. My reference to “they” was “society.” Ultimately, this was just my way of saying that one man can't make a huge difference in society even though he can make a huge impact as an individual. The “idea” of this song is deeper than the actual tune, but it was also written when I was about 15 years old. As one can tell, the instrumental part is basic and straight-forward which helps with the mood of the song. And with each passing verse, I made my vocal performance more severe and sounding a bit angrier with each sentence. By the end of the last verse, I was pretty much just screaming. As I was recording this song, I noticed that rioting in Baltimore was taking place. Ironically, the idea of this song still applies today.
