After writing so many songs in a short amount of time, each song started to sound like another one already written, and I'm sure I got this beat somewhere from someplace else besides my imagination. I remember writing this song for two reasons. First, I just wanted to “write another song” so I could get out of a minor songwriting slump I was in, since everything did seems to sound like someone else's work. The other inspiration for this song came from an episode of M*A*S*H. Major Margaret “Hot Lips” Houlihan had a ring with an inscription like the first line in the song, and it kind of clicked in my head to write the song using those words. I think the choruses were written from another song and I was able to put it into this one. So, this song is kind of a mutt, all mushed together into one piece. The lyrics are basic and not well thought out as far as I'm concerned, but it conveyed the basic idea well enough to move on to my next project. And, of course, the basic idea for the beginning melody comes from “U.S. FIELD ARTILLERY MARCH (The Caisson Song)".
This is song #136.
Recorded at The CELL BLOCK Studio in Auburn, WA.
lyrics
Over Hills, Over Dales, Our Love Will Never Fail,
And I Love You So, And I Want You More.
Over Here, Over There, Our Love Was Always Fair,
But I Treated You Wrong And You Had To Go.
I Want And I Need A Girl That I Can Please.
Yes, I Want You Girl And You Know It's True.
If You Go I Will Know That I'll Need You Even More.
Yes, I Love You Girl And No On Else But You, No, No. Oh Ho.
With A Love That's Sad And Blue,
I Cry As I Think Of You.
And Now We Broke Up, It's All Too Bad,
That You And I Were The Best We Ever Had.
(Solo)
Up And Down, All Around, I Can Hear The Same Ole Sound
Of Your Sweet, Young Voice That I'll Never Forget.
Over There, Everywhere, Is The Love I Want To Share,
And Our Love Was Good As To Have No Regrets, Oh Ho! Mm!
With A Love That's Old And Gone,
I Wonder What Went Wrong.
And Now It's Over, What Can We Do?
The Only Girl I Ever Loved Was You.
Over Hills, Over Dales, Our Love Will Ever Fail.
Yes, I Feel So Bad, Still I Want You So.
Over Here, Over There, Our Love Was Always Fair,
But I Treated You Wrong, Now You'll Have To Go. Oh Ho! Oh Ho!
I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I
could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs....more
I've jammed with this guy and have heard this band live. They play with all their soul and it shows--you can hear it as well as feel the music. The Santairs
