WE ARE CRACKERS (INSTRUMENTAL)

from RAW SKELETONS (2024 Remaster) by The Santairs

/

about

This song was going to be the opening song for our first album, or at least, the idea of this song was going to fulfill that. Bassist, Nick Wilcox, did the opening vocal part on Audacity to show us what we could do with this software. Artist/Guitarist, Stephen Prescotts soon took it upon himself to overdub yet another vocal part during Nick's introduction, while adding an instrumental piece tagged onto it. Neither Nick nor I were impressed with the particular recording, but we liked the idea. What ended up happening, for the opening of our first album, was to have the instrumental song we wrote entitled, “31” start things off, followed right into “WE ARE CRACKERS” which flowed right into the third song, “CHILD SUPPORT” all without having a break. So this version became a throw away. On 8-26-2014, I overdubbed a bass part to it and “finished” off this particular version, where the other two didn't care to go beyond what was already there. Since I didn't contribute anything to the released version of WE ARE CRACKERS from our first album, this gave me a chance to, at the very least, contribute something of a song I felt I was left out. It wasn't that the other members didn't ask me to contribute something, but I wasn't yet ready to record parts on my own in a studio. I was the last of the 3 members to get behind the controls and play “engineer.” So this is an unreleased track from Rice Cracker Project originally done in 2008.
This is song #573.

Recorded at The CELL BLOCK Studio in Auburn, WA.

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
