TO BE WHO YOU ARE

from I AM AM I (2024 Remaster) by The Santairs

/

about

Just a quick song I wrote one day. Roy Orbison had a song called, “Working For The Man.” I took part of that rundown for the chorus and made it my own. It's a fairly simple tune. This song also feels like it's been written before, but I can't place it. It came to me so easily that I tend to wonder what inspired me.
This is song #320.

Recorded at The CELL BLOCK Studio in Auburn, WA.

lyrics

Get Up And You Go To Work,
Collect Upon Your Pay.
You Never Know Just How It Works
When You Do It Everyday.

Never Let The Old Boss Tell You What's The Way
Be Who You Are.

Make A List And Check It Twice.
Make Sure It's Okay,
'Cause Only You Know What Is Right.
You Only Lack The Way.

Never Let No Others Tell You What's The Way
To Be Who You Are. Alright!
(Solo)
Never Let A Politician Run Your Life.
Just Be Who You Are.

Now That You Know Who You Are,
Hold Your Head Up High.
Though You Know Just Who You Are,
You Still Want To Know Just Why.

Never Let A Friend Or Stranger Ruin Your Life.
Be Who You Are.
Be The Person You Are.
Just Be Who You Are.

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
