This is the first Christmas song that I wrote. (I think I only wrote a few.) It’s also one of the first few songs I ever wrote. I was, more or less, practicing my writing (or lack thereof) skills to see if I could really write a song of this nature. Oddly enough, most of my family liked this song more than many of the others I’ve written before or since. I also used the word “X-mas” instead of spelling out “Christmas” for a reason. It’s not to be insulting to anyone, but to actually bring awareness that it never was an insult in the first place. For those of you who know the story behind it will understand. Those who don’t understand and feel offended should “google” it or study up on the subject.
On Aug. 6th, 2012, I finally performed and recorded this song in The CELL BLOCK Studio. It’s also the first song where I got to practice recording an acoustic guitar, which is a slightly different animal than electric guitar and amps. I also added a kids’ jingle bell toy to parts of the song. (I have so many instruments of different kinds that I’ve kept babies, kids, and adults intrigued by the variety.) You just never know what you may want to try and use to record as a musician/engineer one day.
This is song #9.
