about

It took me about 15 minutes to write this entire song. Musically, it literally was just me ripping myself off from a prior song I wrote called “Fantasy Girl” which is something I sing near the end of this song as a joke. The lyrics are grammatically incorrect, which is about the only reason I like this tune. I wrote this after going to some “teenage” parties back in the 80's, and never understanding why kids wanted to get high and drunk. Perhaps young people (and this can include adults) are so fearful of either social pressure or acceptance that they want to partake in these self-destructive behaviors, which many times can continue throughout a lifetime. This is still something I don't understand to this day, but maybe ignorance is still bliss. I just do what I do and that's all that I do.
This is song #98.

Recorded at The CELL BLOCK Studio in Auburn, WA.

lyrics

I Was Drivin' In My Car, Goin' Fast As Can Be.
I Was Goin' To A Party, Yea, And Do You Know What I See?

Oh Yea—The People Are Cool.
Oh Yea—The People Were Cruel.
Oh Yea—The People Are Fools.
Oh Yea—Wo, They Haven't A Clue.

When I Went To The Party At Ten, There Was Drinks And Some Dope.
Then I Seen My Girlfriend There, Man She Was Gone Without Hope.

Oh Yea—The People Were Cool.
Oh Yea—The People Are Cruel.
Oh Yea—The People Were Fools.
Oh Yea—Wo, They Hadn't A Clue. All Right!
(Solo)
When I Had Some Drinks At The Bar, I Can't Believe What I Saw.
My Girl Was Makin' Love To The People That Weren't There At All.

Oh Yea—The People Were Cruel.
Oh Yea—The People Are Cool.
Oh Yea—The People Are Fools.
Oh Yea—They Haven't A Clue. I Hadn't A Clue. Oho,
Fantasy Girl. Yea, Yea, Yea, Oh Come On!

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
