THE LONGEST NATIONAL ANTHEM [edited]

from STRANGE SONGS TO LISTEN TO (2024 Remaster) by The Santairs

about

1985: First off, I obviously didn’t write the National Anthem. Actually, this was my first serious attempt to record anything outside of my parent’s place. I used a cheap mono tape recorder and took it with me to Auburn Senior High School where I had the privilege of having access to the rehearsal/dressing rooms where the choir singers did their vocal warm ups and practicing. The beginning part of the recording was me sitting in that rehearsal room capturing whatever the singers were doing prior to their performance. The 2nd part of the recording is the actual performance of The National Anthem itself. At the end, you can hear a bunch of gibberish and then me saying, “Oh come on, no!” I decided to keep that in more as a remembrance for me than anything else. I added the word “Longest” to the main title as a joke back when I recorded it since the first half of the recording was totally real, capturing what was taking place as if a live camera was there. Though the recording wasn’t very good, I did learn a few things back then about placement and technique, even when it comes to mono tape recorders. The Auburn Choir’s performance was also very solid.
NOTE: To not violate other copyright works, this is the same exact recording(s) as the original except those violations have been removed. This is recording #601.

Recorded at Auburn Senior High School, Auburn, WA.
Mixed and Mastered at The CELL BLOCK Studio in Auburn, WA.

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
