THE HAPPY SONG WITH YOU (LONG PLAY SPECIAL EFFECTS SONG) [edited]

about

Where do I start on this one? This “recording” took place over a couple of years, starting when I was around 12 years old and completed around the age of 15. It’s a total joke, but also an experiment. This was mostly done on an old stereo system I had that was built like a rock, with a record, cassette, and 8-track player built in along with an AM/FM radio. Not sure what happened to it, but it’s been long gone from my life, but it was the first “real” stereo/recording system I had (besides a mono tape recorder, which is used a little on this recording as well, along with my newer 2 track recorder I had—which is also ancient history now.) Before I wrote “actual” songs, I played around with sounds. Most of these recordings came from tapes, records, and the radio. (Only some of the other silly things came from me playing various instruments and making silly noises and sounds, along with some improvising lyrics, which I wrote down below.) Before I learned how to play an instrument [I was 7 or 8 years old when I learned how to play the bass] I always thought I’d be a DJ when I grew up. That, of course, never happened. But, this was a way for me to express myself musically before I discovered an outlet for doing that myself via songwriting and performing music. It wasn’t until the age of 15 that I learned to play the guitar. On this recording, you’ll hear me plunking the acoustic guitar I had before I knew how to play a note. Then later on in the recording, you’ll hear me playing guitar during my first year of learning how to play it by playing various songs I had learned back then. More people in my family heard this “song” when I completed it just because I thought it was so hilarious. You’ll definitely hear my insane sense of humor in this recording, including me flushing a toilet and so on. My close friends and family (back when I was 15 years old) heard this recording and thought it was just totally nuts, but in a fun way. It always seemed to make people laugh, even though it’s a long recording and, in actuality, quite boring. But the fact that it shows the process of how I did things before I was actually able to record and perform my own material is the main reason why I kept this recording around all these years.
NOTE: To not violate other copyright works, this is the same exact recording(s) as the original except those violations have been removed. This is recording #600.

Recorded at The CELL BLOCK Studio in Auburn, WA.

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
