THE CRAZY TAPE (THE FAMILY ALBUM) PART 1 [edited]

about

1976-1977: Mozart wrote his first musical composition at age 5. At age 7, I made this. Okay, so it’s not a symphony, nor is it really a song, but it is one of the first cassette tapes I had and I recorded various family and friends during a period of a couple months back in 1976-1977. I was 8 years old when I finished the recording. As you can hear, it’s mostly like a time capsule of a young boy having fun. People usually use photos for scrap-booking. I used a tape recorder. This is side 1 of this tape. (Side 2 was all me making noises and talking.) This first recording changed everything for me. It gave me ideas and an outlet that I didn’t have before. And it was a first step at what I would do as my “hobby.” Soon after this recording, I started learning how to play the bass guitar, and then the guitar at 15. From there, I tried my hand at many different instruments and songwriting. So this recording opened that door. It is sort of embarrassing to have other people listen to it—at least to a certain degree. But as I look back on it, it was a fun time where my parents allowed me to explore the creative and silly side of my personality. Most of the singing was done by my sister and mother (and me singing silly children’s songs.)
NOTE: To not violate other copyright works, this is the same exact recording(s) as the original except those violations have been removed. This is recording #599.

Recorded at The CELL BLOCK Studio in Auburn, WA.

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
