This song was recorded at Audio Recording, Inc. in Seattle by legendary engineer, Kearney Barton (who recorded The Kingsmen “Jolly Green Giant” of “Louie, Louie” fame, The Sonics “Psycho”, The Frantics “Werewolf”, and many others.) It was an 8 track analog studio, recorded onto 1 inch reel tape. This is one of the first drumming parts I did in the studio where I was able to keep the take. I was just learning how to play them, and even to this day, I’ve never had a lesson and don’t consider myself a drummer. We put the heavy tambourine to reflect what many of the groups during the British Invasion did during the 60’s. Overall, it’s an acceptable tune and very danceable which is what we were going for. Sean Crain and Wayde Brown (me) performed all the instruments and vocals. Sean was never truly a backing singer, but he helped out whenever he could and I always appreciated him for the effort.
This particular version was done for Kearney’s gratification only, to basically show what kind of special effects he could make on his analog tape recorder. So, all the odd sounds, including making the song sound warped in one section, panning back and forth, echoes, noises, etc. was all done by engineer Kearney Barton on his one reel to reel one inch tape machines and mixer board.
To finish off this particular mix, I had to convert it from a cassette format onto the Audacity program on my computer with a JVC TD-W254 Double Cassette Deck 3 motor Silent Mechanism.
