SOUNDS OF NATURE: THE MORNING (7-7-87)

about

This “recording” was done in the morning of July 7th, 1987. You can hear some tape noise and movement, but overall, I wanted to capture what it sounded like that morning with birds, cars, planes, and everyday noises and sounds one would hear. I did a few of these kinds of recordings for the sake of inspiration, but also out of total curiosity. After recording them, I'd listen to them and realize that what I recorded wasn't something that I was actually listening to at the time. It's like in everyday life, we tune out the things we don't want or care to hear, and focus in on one sound. With a recording like this, you tend to listen to everything, and it's like a new world. Now I know I'm not the first person to ever do this, but as a teenager, it was fascinating stuff to hear the world through different ears, aka the tape recorder.

Recorded at The CELL BLOCK Studio in Auburn, WA.

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
