about

This song was recorded at Audio Recording, Inc. in Seattle by legendary engineer, Kearney Barton (who recorded The Kingsmen “Jolly Green Giant” of “Louie, Louie” fame, The Sonics “Psycho”, The Frantics “Werewolf”, and many others.) It was an 8 track analog studio, recorded onto 1 inch reel tape.
This is one of the few songs where I just had acoustic guitars and a lead vocal for the entire song. I provided the lead vocal and the guitar, picking the melody while Sean Crain provided the other acoustic rhythm guitar. At MINE music Studio at home, I overdubbed two extra backing vocal parts that were missing on 12-6-12.
To finish off this particular mix, I had to convert it from a cassette format onto the Audacity program on my computer with a JVC TD-W254 Double Cassette Deck 3 motor Silent Mechanism.

This is song #306th that I wrote. I originally titled it “Theme for Gail (Somewhere Sometime)” but again, the female name in songs was really getting old for me. I wrote this song after listening to a few acoustic songs by The Beatles and actually talking with a girl named Gail at a video store. I double tracked my lead vocal; and in certain places, the timing wasn't perfect, but much like the songs I used to listen to in the 60's, I liked what I heard and was pleased with it. So it was a mistake that I enjoyed keeping. This song is simple and the words reflect the simplicity in the feelings of love songs. The rhyming scheme was a bit more involved, more in the form of poetry than a song. I liked the fact that the title of the song is in both a bridge and a verse.

Recorded at Audio Recording, Inc. in Seattle, WA. and MINE music Studio in Auburn, WA.

lyrics

GIVE ME SOME TIME SO I CAN FIND WHAT WORDS I SHOULD SAY.
WOULD I BE WRONG TO SAY IN MY SONG THAT I LOVE YOU THIS WAY?
NOW IS MY CHANCE TO MAKE A ROMANCE AND SAY THAT I NEED YOU.
ALL THAT I'VE SAID COMES FROM MY HEAD. NOW WHAT DO WE DO? I WANT YOU.

WHEN I SAY THAT MAYBE SOMEDAY, I WILL LOVE YOU TRUE,
WOULD YOU BELIEVE I'LL NEVER DECEIVE OR LEAVE TO MAKE YOU BLUE?
I DON'T KNOW WHY I GET SO SHY EVERY TIME YOU'RE NEAR.
I QUIVER INSIDE, A LOVE I CAN'T HIDE, MY THOUGHTS ARE ALL SINCERE, MY DEAR.

ALL THROUGH THE YEARS, I'LL SEE TO YOUR TEARS. WILL YOU BE MINE TONIGHT?
IF WE DON'T START THE LOVE IN OUR HEARTS, THEN HOW CAN IT BE RIGHT?
SOMEWHERE SOMETIME, I KNOW YOU'LL BE MINE IF YOU HAVE THE WILL.
HOW DO I SAY ON THIS VERY DAY THAT I LOVE YOU STILL?
(SOLO)
IF YOU DENY THE TRUST IN MY EYES, HOW WILL I GO ON?
IF YOU TELL ME LIES, I'LL BREAK DOWN AND CRY; OUR LOVE HAS NEVER BEGUN.
MAYBE SOMETIME, SOMEWHERE SOMETIME, YOU AND I WILL BE.
'TIL THAT DAY, I'LL STAY AWAY AND PRAY THAT SOMEDAY YOU'LL SEE THAT IT'S ME.

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
