This song was recorded at Audio Recording, Inc. in Seattle by legendary engineer, Kearney Barton (who recorded The Kingsmen “Jolly Green Giant” of “Louie, Louie” fame, The Sonics “Psycho”, The Frantics “Werewolf”, and many others.) It was an 8 track analog studio, recorded onto 1 inch reel tape. This song was pretty much recorded entirely live except the rhythm guitar which I overdubbed. I believe this is take 1. We were trying to record 14 songs in 10 hours, and we did it. This song was originally recorded in 1988 and released in 1990 under the group name, THE SANTAIRS. The LP and cassette was called “Sleeping in Dreams.” The original group disbanded shortly thereafter, selling about 120 copies.
To finish off this particular mix, I had to convert it from a cassette format onto the Audacity program on my computer with a JVC TD-W254 Double Cassette Deck 3 motor Silent Mechanism.
The players were: Wayde Brown (me) guitars, my father Clint Brown on bass, and Bill Fletcher on drums.
Sean Crain and I wrote this instrumental within minutes. I think Sean came up with the title. This was one of the first true instrumentals that I wrote. We were inspired by The Beatles early instrumental song called, “Cry for a Shadow.” It’s song 154th on my list of songs written.
