SEARCHIN' FOR MY NOTE

from VIA CASSETTE [Digitally Remastered] by The Santairs

/

about

This song has a long story to it, but the gist of it is, we (The Santairs) were jamming one night and started playing wrong notes on purpose and singing off key. This song started from those silly beginnings and never really evolved much further. We were eventually going to record this song in a professional studio, but our drummer, (Dan Penland) passed away before we could do it. And since this is the ONLY existing version of that song that the 3 of us created, I decided to release it as is. The recording isn't very good at all. It was done on a mono cassette recorder with the batteries nearly drained. It features Wayde K. Brown (me) on guitar and vocal, Nick Wilcox on bass and vocal, and Dan Penland on drums and vocal. We each took turns hacking and coughing out a silly verse that just came to our minds.

This is song #673.

Recorded at The CELL BLOCK Studio in Auburn, WA.

lyrics

I'M SEARCHIN' FOR A NOTE.
I KNOW IT'S STUCK WAY DOWN IN MY THROAT.
AS I'M SEARCHIN' FOR A NOTE,
IT'S STUCK WAY DOWN, WAY DOWN INSIDE OF MY THROAT.
AND I KNOW IT MAKES ME CHOKE.

I'VE BEEN SEARCHIN' FOR MY NOTE.
IT'S STUCK IN MY THROAT.
I KNOW THIS IS IT.

BEEN SEARCHIN' FOR MY NOTE.
I KNOW IT'S SOMEWHERE DOWN THERE, STUCK IN MY THROAT.
BEEN SEARCHIN' FOR MY NOTE.
I KNOW IT'S GOTTA COME OUT OR I WILL BE BROKE.
WOW, THIS IS BAD. AND I NEED MY NOTE. I NEED IT BAD.
(SOLO)
SEARCHIN' FOR SOMETHING TO SAY.
THE MUSIC JUST WON'T GO AWAY. (YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN?)
AH, THAT'S PAINFUL.
(SOLO)
WRAP IT BOYS. I THINK WE'RE THROUGH.

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
