about

This was one of my attempts at trying to write a hard rock song. I used a demo I made of it circa 1987 and overdubbed the drums, bass, lead guitar, and backing vocals. The original cassette had my rhythm guitar and lead vocals on it. However, I only had one version of it with ¾ of it saved. The other ¼ is the beginning of the song which I started an attempt at putting a bass part to it, but later shelved it. So I had to combine one good copy of it with an inferior copy. It’s quite noticeable, but acceptable enough for what I was doing. I liked the performance of my lead vocal and my guitar back then, so I wanted to work with these tracks as they stood. I wanted the verses to be the antagonist while the chorus was more of the protagonist or an agonist. The beginning of the song sounds a bit ugly and strange, as if the musicians (which were entirely done by me) didn’t know how to play musical instruments. However, this was also a part of what I was trying to do by suggesting what the Devil has to say is warped and wrong.
This is song #267.

Recorded at The CELL BLOCK Studio in Auburn, WA.

lyrics

The Devil Is In Disguise.
He Sees Right Through Your Eyes.
He Always Knows What To Do.
And He’s Going To Kill You.

The Devil Is In Disguise.
He Murders And He Lies.
He Is Going To Get You.
And You Won’t Know What To Do.

God Will Save Us, I Have Faith
To Wait Another Day.
But 'Til Then All I Can Do Is Pray.

The Devil Is In Disguise.
We’re All Going To Die.
His Spirit’s Within Us All.
Our Destinies Will Fall.
(Solo)
God Must Save Us, I Have Hope
To Wait Another Year.
But 'TIL Then All I Can Do Is Live In Fear.

Satan Is In Disguise.
Does God Hear Our Cries?
We’ll Die, We’ll Die, We’ll Die
For The Devil Is In Disguise.
He Sees Right Through Our Eyes
'Cause The Devil Is In Disguise,
Devil Is In Disguise. The Devil Is In Disguise.

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
