This is the 3rd, and I think last, Christmas song I wrote, though technically, it just takes place during Christmas. I wrote more than ¾ of this song many years ago but wrote an entire verse the day I recorded this, after what I would call, a “pissing match” with the in-laws. It was something I was disgusted in concerning the vulgar display of what they thought Christmas was about, that I decided I didn’t want to be any part of it. And, the thoughts of our beloved Mischa came to mind, along with a few friends that have passed away, inspired the writing of the final lyrics. The song isn’t exactly where I want them to be, but I do consider it “good enough” to move on to the next project. I kept the song simple musically. I added, for a bit of silly flavor, the click track during the solo parts of the song. (Wonder if anyone will notice?) I tried my hand at different harmony parts for a different sound. Also, musically, it’s a bit different. Every verse is a bit different than the other. The ears may not pick it up at first, but when one tries to learn it, they’ll notice it. Hopefully, it’s a good thing. Changing things up for the sake of doing so isn’t always the right answer, but I wanted to stretch out a bit.
