about

1984: I had a mono, portable cassette tape recorder and took it to school with me. I pressed PLAY and RECORD for nearly the entire class. I did this as a preservation of memories more than anything else. I chose the guitar class because I knew there would be lots of noises with other people playing guitar. You hear me talking for a bit on it as well. The recorder was inside my bag for a small time and I later took it out and had it sitting on a table and chair later on. I didn’t keep it a secret that I had a tape recorder with me and that I was recording the class. I think I was the only person to do this during the time I went to high school. Nowadays, you have people with cell phones that can capture things as they want, mostly to use it for youtube purposes that make other people look silly or to show inappropriate behavior. I used my recorder as a tool for recording purposes--and for memory keepsake, nothing more. I had a fun time revisiting this recording after 30 years have elapsed. I can only wonder what my life will be like 30 years from now, if I’m even still around this realm. This recording was done around the time I wrote my first song, “I’m So Lonely.” It was pretty much the start of what I would consider to be my true “hobby” of what I do and who I am. I didn’t categorize this recording until later when I found it again, so hence, it becomes recording #246.

Recorded at Auburn Senior High School in Auburn, WA.

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
