This poem was recorded at Audio Recording, Inc. in Seattle by legendary engineer, Kearney Barton (who recorded The Kingsmen “Jolly Green Giant” of “Louie, Louie” fame, The Sonics “Psycho”, The Frantics “Werewolf”, and many others.) It was an 8 track analog studio, recorded onto 1 inch reel tape. I never performed a poem in the studio before, and I wanted to give it a try. As far as I was concerned I failed, since I’ve always had a problem with my talking voice; never a problem with my singing voice. It was supposed to start before the MELISSA TELL ME song, but never made it.
To finish off this particular mix, I had to convert it from a cassette format onto the Audacity program on my computer with a JVC TD-W254 Double Cassette Deck 3 motor Silent Mechanism.

I believe I wrote this poem long before I wrote the song. With every song I wrote, I tend to write 2 poems. I never liked reading my own poetry, even though I knew the flow that I wanted. I had a minor stutter as a child. I thought it was because my tongue came from my father, a perfectly English speaking man, and my mother who spoke full Japanese. It was like my mind couldn’t process fast enough to my mouth in a timely manner. I had to work hard to not flip over my words, which I often did as a child. It got much better as a teenager until I started liking girls, then it started all over again but for different reasons of course. I consider this the 121st song I wrote even though it originally started and ended as a poem.

Recorded at Audio Recording, Inc. in Seattle, WA.

lyrics

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WORDS I CAN POSSIBLY SAY
TO YOU, MELISSA, I LOVE YOU EACH DAY.
AND ON THE MORROW, I’LL LOVE YOU MORE,
BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT MY LOVE IS FOR.
THE MOST ELEGANT WORDS I CAN POSSIBLY WRITE
IS TO TELL YOU, MY DARLING, ON THIS GLORIOUS NIGHT,
I PROPOSE TO YOU A UNITED BLISS,
AS I PRESS TO YOU SOFTLY, A GENTLE KISS.
THE ONLY WORDS I CAN POSSIBLY TELL,
IS IN LOVE WITH YOU THAT I HAVE FELL.
AND TO YOU, I WHISPER, “MELISSA, MY DEAR,
TOGETHER FOREVER, THERE’S NOTHING TO FEAR.”

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
