OH MY LOVER BRINGS ME FLOWERS

from FROM NOWHERE (2024 Remaster) by The Santairs

about

This song features me playing all the instruments once again while I engineered the entire session. I recorded a demo of it back in the early 90’s but decided to put this song together and put it to rest the way I wanted to. The piano part was the most difficult for me since I’m not anywhere near proficient at that instrument. I just know what I want it to do. To make my hands do what my mind tells it to do is another matter altogether.
This is the 188th song I wrote. This song was written about the same time as “Daddy (Please Don't Go!)”. I wrote this after reflecting on what had taken place and all the emotions of what infidelity can cause, what it can do to a seemingly happy family unit, and this song was the result. I think it's a beautiful tune (and as my 15 year old son stated—“it sounds like a children’s tune”), but it has many painful memories attached to it. Not sure how the guitar part came along. It just sort of happened.

Recorded at The CELL BLOCK Studio in Auburn, WA.

lyrics

Oh My Lover Brings Me Flowers,
And She Lets Me Take Her Home.
Yes, My Lover Brings Me Flowers.
We Shall Never Be Alone.

As We Think Of Future Plans,
Set A Goal For Everyone,
We’ll Be Happy And Together,
Living Life In Love And Fun.

What Would You Do If I Left You?
Would You Cry Like I Would?
How Could I Have Thought Of Ever Leaving You?
'Cause I Loved You In A Way I Never Should.

Oh My Lover Gives Me Kisses,
With Her Love That Shines On Through.
Feeling Sorry, Please Forgive,
My Love Hasn’t Been So True.

What Would You Do If I Cheated You?
Would You Leave Me For Good?
I’m So Ashamed Of Ever Feeling Like This.
Yes, I Loved You In A Way I Never Could.

Oh My Lover Brings Me Sorrow,
Never Ending Pain Goes Through.
Now My Lover Brings Me Sorrow,
And I Cry And Think Of You.

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
