about

This song came about because I wanted to write a song with only one word in it, and OH is about as simple as I could get. It was recorded back in 1986 on a little two track stereo system I had. After overdubbing about 3 times, the sound would start to degrade noticeably; however, with this particular tune (which, again, borders on the avant-garde) I wanted to get that sound, but I think I overdubbed instruments about 6 times. It was one of my first experimental tunes I recorded that had a semblance of form. It's also not a song I wanted to try and reproduce in a more professional fashion since my attitude is, “What's the point?” I had fun doing this little experiment and I want it to be heard as is without too many special effects. I think there were bongos played with hands, bongos played with drumsticks, slapping the back of an acoustic guitar and on a dresser, acoustic guitar and electric guitar, along with a vocal part. I used the audacity program to do some minor sound effects to continue the “fun” feel of it, though I know the sound is still totally amateur, and I'm okay with that. This song was transferred from cassette tape from a Denon DRM-700 3 head cassette deck with silent mechanism onto digital form.
This is the 151st song on the list that I wrote.

Recorded at The CELL BLOCK Studio in Auburn, WA.

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
