I'm not into writing “protest” or “anti-war” songs in general, but when I was younger, I felt compelled to write this. It's basic in the idea, but just saying STOP or NO usually doesn't work in real life situations. But my attitude was—it couldn't hurt. I think I had the Iran/Iraq war in mind, but what triggered me to write this song was the Gulf War when the US got involved in the Middle East, which, to this day, I think is fruitless. Unless we bomb ourselves out of existence, conflict will exist there for nearly forever, just based on which God people feel is greater than the other.
