NEURALGIA OF ANIMATE EXISTENCE

from ARTFUL SAYINGS [Digitally Remastered] by The Santairs

about

This was originally a poem I wrote and I wanted to “speak” it with me just plucking a note or two on a guitar. It was recorded very plainly on a mono cassette recorder back in 1986 with no effects on the amplifier. I shelved it, hoping to return to it when I got some “real” equipment. The time came and I had the ability to really go to town on it, but as I listened to my voice, I didn’t recognize the person speaking. But that person was me. Obviously, my voice was still changing and I decided to go with this recording, the only recorded version I had of this song, and use the Audacity sound editor to put effects onto it, making it sound like a Beatnik style recording that came from the 50’s-60’s era. I usually don’t put my poems into songs since it just doesn’t work for me, but this experiment was worth trying at least once. The Doors were also an influence.

This is recording #194.

Recorded at The CELL BLOCK Studio in Auburn, WA.

lyrics

MUSIC IS A NON-ENDING STREET, CONTINUING THROUGH ETERNITY AND TIME.
IT IS A BEAUTY THAT ONE FORGETS UNTIL AFTER LOVE MAKING.
YOUR THOUGHTS, FEELINGS, AND EMOTIONS ARE DEFINED
WHEN YOU CREATE THAT PICTURE THAT NEVER SEEMS TO DIE IN YOUR MIND.

YOUR EYES SEE THE SKIES ABOVE.
YOU SEE THE HEAVEN YOU HOPE TO BE THERE,
BUT YOU STILL MISS THE BEAUTY OF ITS MEANING.

LOVE HAS GROWN INTO DEATH
AND DEATH HAS BROUGHT YET ANOTHER LIFE TO LIVE HER REALITY.
WE ARE BORN AND WE DIE THE SAME.
IT’S ALWAYS THE SAME PATH WE START AND END ON.
ONLY WHAT WE DO IN-BETWEEN WE CAN CALL A LIFE.

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
