NAME ON A STAR

from 1ST OFFENSE by Crime Scene

about

The lyrics were written by drummer Paul Kollman. It's pretty much a true story about one of his encounters while vacationing in Hawaii. It was originally a poem until he approached Wayde to see if CRIME SCENE could make a song out of it. Mark heard it and quickly countered with a rhythm acoustic part for the verses. Jay finished it off by writing the music for the chorus and bridge. Wayde helped write one of the the bass lines and organize the final structure of the song, adding the filler guitar. Nick "wrote" the rest of the bass and the backing vocal part, while he and Wayde performed them. Jay took the lead vocal. In truth, this song was written by all of us nearly equally (in various parts).

lyrics

IT’S BEEN TWENTY-FIVE YEARS SINCE I’VE COME TO SEE YOU.
SO MUCH HAS CHANGED. NOTHING SEEMS THE SAME.
PEOPLE EVERYWHERE, HUSTLE IN THE AIR,
LOOKING FOR PEACE IN THIS PARADISE, (MM!)
KEEPS ME SEARCHING AND LOOKING TO THE SKY.

IT’S BEEN TWENTY-FIVE YEARS, BUT THEN THERE YOU WERE,
NEXT TO THIS SEA OF BLUE, A HEART SO TRUE.
YOU SMILED AT ME, AND THEN I KNEW.
YOU CAME INTO MY LIFE, LIFE TWO POOLS COMING TOGETHER.
NO GAMES, NO RULES, NO BARRIERS, JUST FLOWIN’ LIKE A RIVER.

COME DANCE WITH ME. TAKE THIS CHANCE WITH ME.
WE CAN TOUCH THE STARS, HEAL ALL OUR SCARS.
WITH YOUR NAME IN THE HEAVENS, YOU GIVE ME DIRECTION.

IT WAS THEN THAT IT HIT ME, YOU COULD BE THE ONE, THE ONE,
TO SET MY HEART SO FREE.
I PUT YOUR NAME ON A STAR,
AND WHEN I LOOK INTO THE SKY AT NIGHT, OO, THERE YOU ARE.

WITH YOUR NAME IN THE HEAVENS YOU GIVE ME DIRECTION.
WITH YOUR NAME IN THE HEAVENS………

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
