MEMORIES BEYOND THE SUNSET

from GUNK @ THE BOTTOM (2024 Remaster) by The Santairs

about

This particular song was one of the first and few songs where someone else wrote the music while I wrote the lyrics. This particular recording was done by Kearney Barton of Audio Recording, Inc. in Seattle, WA. The recording itself wasn’t very good and was only meant to be a demo, but we never got around to finishing the song. In this particular version, the vocals didn’t blend very well, from my lead to my friend Chris’ backing vocal. It’s also one of the first songs that I put a drum part to (maybe the second time I ever played drums) and it shows. I also provided the bass part. Chris did the keyboard and piano work. Overall, it’s not a bad song—just not a good recording. To finish off this particular version, I used the Audacity music editor to smooth out some of the really rough edges.
This is song #387.

Recorded at Audio Recording, Inc. in Seattle, WA. & MINE music Studio in Auburn, WA.

lyrics

You Took My Hand And You Took My Heart,
You Told Me You’d Never Leave.
Love Is Warmth That Cannot Depart;
That’s What I Believed.

But I Was Wrong To Say That You’d Never Leave Me This Way.

Every Night, I Think Of You More.
Were We Meant To Be?
Alone This Time Near The Shore,
Dreaming Those Memories!

But I Was Wrong To See That You Belonged To Me.
(Solo)
What Can I Do If You’re Not Mine?
All I Do Is Dream
Am I A Fool To Say Each Time,
“You'll Come Back To Me”?

But If I Cannot Survive, My Hopes Will Keep Me Alive.

Like The Waves That Glide From The Wind,
With A Tear In My Eye,
I Came Back To See You Again,
Feeling Helpless Inside.
And If I Say My Love Won’t End,
Will You Not Pretend And Be My Friend Again?

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
