I did about 4 or 5 of these particular recordings, where I only had a small idea of a song in my head, grabbed the tape recorder and a pen and paper, and started writing a song as I went along. If I had a video recorder at the time, I may have filmed myself doing this. However, all I had was a tape recorder, so I documented, via cassette tape, how I write songs as the inspiration hit me. This song later became SURELY (I NEED YOU SO) as a final version and the first demo of SHIRLEY. I think I was about 15 years old when I wrote this originally.
