about

At the behest of my cousin John, this song came flying out. It pretty much wrote itself. John asked me to write a song about a girl named Leanne and that they were a couple that recently broke up due to his ignorance but that he still loves her dearly and wishes she would come back. He pretty much said these exact words to me and I turned them into lyrics so it would fit the song that was forming in my head. This may not have been the love song he was hoping for, but I always liked the tune, mostly because of the bass part my father wrote for it. He turned some of my songs from average to good just by throwing in some great bass lines. The only gripe about this song, for me, was that it switches from 3rd person to 1st person after the second verse. This was by design so I could get the lyrics the way I wanted, and I felt that from the bridge onward it would be acceptable. I know some songs do that, but I didn’t do that very much with my songwriting. Then I thought to myself, who cares, I don’t follow rules very well anyway, and besides, it’s my song so I can do what I want.
This is song #204.

lyrics

I Met A Girl, Her Name Is Leanne.
She Was My Girl. I Was Her Man.
I Loved Her More Than I Thought I Could
Love Her. Oh I Would
Love Her If She Came Back Home.

I Was A Fool With Nothing To Say.
I Made Her Leave When I Wished Her To Stay.
Now She’s Gone, I Know What She’s Going Through.
I Love Her Oh So True.
“I Love You”, Is What I Say When She’s Away.

When I Say I Was Wrong,
Please Believe That I’m Sincere.
It Was My Fault For Letting You Go,
When I Know I Need You So.

I Love A Girl, Her Name Is Leanne.
Please Come Back, I Know That I Can
Be A Good And Loving Man To You.
I Love You, Yes I Do
Love You. Please Understand
I Love You Leanne.

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
