This song was recorded at Audio Recording, Inc. in Seattle by legendary engineer, Kearney Barton (who recorded The Kingsmen "Jolly Green Giant" of "Louie, Louie" fame, The Sonics "Psycho", The Frantics "Werewolf", and many others.) It was an 8 track analog studio, recorded onto 1 inch reel tape.
This was one of the few songs that was recorded, pretty much, totally live. (It had one minor 4 second overdub due to a mistake.) It was Wayde Brown (me) on guitar and lead vocal, Sean Crain on bass and backing vocal, and Dan Penland on drums and backing vocal. To perform these instruments live in a studio usually doesn't gather good results, but Kearney was so good at what he did, he captured a performance that we couldn't let go (hence the minor overdub.) We wanted this song to be as simple as possible recording wise.
To finish off this particular mix, I had to convert it from a cassette format onto the Audacity program on my computer with a JVC TD-W254 Double Cassette Deck 3 motor Silent Mechanism. A final remix was done on 8-20-12 at my studio.
This is song #163 . I was listening to a lot of Buddy Holly and The Beatles at this time. The Beatles' song "Every Little Thing" inspired the writing of this tune while Buddy Holly inspired the vocals and rockabilly feel. The song is as simple as it can be, from the music to the words. I wanted it to be a simple love song and nothing else, and it seems to work as such. Sean Crain wrote the bass part and a small part of the music.
