I started with Free's song, All Right Now, added IT'S in front of it, then heard a few psychedelic songs that inspired this tune, including The Rolling Stones SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL. The story isn't that much involved, and is purposely left a bit vague, but that's what I was going for. It's also the first song that I wrote that hit the 8 minute mark. To this day, that's still one of the longest songs I've written. The structure of the song is fairly simple and straight-forward, though it does deviate a little here and there to keep it from feeling too monotonous. The fact that it builds louder and louder with more and more instruments added with each passing verse makes it feel like more is going on than what actually is happening; so, it kind of tricks the ear a little.
