IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN TOMORROW

about

This was recorded at my home with Audacity; a free, open source software for recording and editing sounds using my 160GB, 3.2 GHZ Pentium IV HP computer made back in 2004. I upgraded the memory to 2GB. Only 512 MB of memory originally came with the computer. This song was performed on basic equipment, using a $10 computer microphone capturing the sounds as I performed them live without a real time compressor or mixer, making it quite the challenge to balance the entire sound. With this particular song, I played a Cameo bass through a 50 watt Peavey bass amp, a Kawai keyboard and a Taylor acoustic guitar.
On 12/16/10, while on facebook, I made a silly comment about “It should have been tomorrow.” Then, four days later, I thought-- that has to be a song someplace. Regardless, I decided to write it. It’s the first song I wrote on keyboards. As a matter of fact, I’ve only played keyboards on a few songs, but usually one note at a time and with many overdubs. This is the first time I played keyboards throughout a song, so it was a big stretch for me. So, one can say, I learned how to play keyboards on that day. I also got the story from a friend who was going through a separation and is thinking about coming back home. I thought it would make a nice story to a song like this. The ending is not one of suicide as one may think, but of coming back home after leaving to find oneself. It took about 45 minutes to write the entire tune.
This makes it song #484.

Recorded at MINE music Studio in Auburn, WA.

lyrics

It Should Have Been Tomorrow,
But I Just Happened On By.
Everything That Followed,
From The Beauty Within Your Eyes,

I Fell In Love With You That Day.
I Just Couldn’t Let Go.
As You Turned And Walked Away
Wish I Told You This And More.

Happiness Is What We Make,
As We Take From Our Mistakes.
I Can’t Forgive Something I Never Lived
To Partake.

It Should Have Been Tomorrow,
Then I May Not Have Lost You.
As I Feel All The Sorrow,
There’s Nothing Else I Can Do.

I Can’t Change The Hands Of Time
So That We Could Be
Together, Forever Entwined,
Foresight Of What I’ve Seen.

Sorrow Is What We Make
As We Give From Our Mistakes.
I Must Forgive The Life I’ve Lived
As I Take…Myself Home.

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
