about

This song was originally part of a demo I made back in the mid-80's from a song I wrote called, “You've Got.” My father played the bass and I did the guitar work and vocals, recorded from a 2 track recorder. On November 10th, 2014, I nearly lost my entire voice and couldn't sing nor talk with any power. It's like everything came out as a growling whisper. In all my life, I never recorded myself when my voice was this gone and raspy, so I decided to edit this particular recording into its basic parts, extending it so I could add a new set of lyrics and coming up with a different subject than what the original recording of YOU'VE GOT was about. By doing this, I also got to keep the odd solo I did way back when, which I thought was a bit unique. At this time, I already recorded a professional version of YOU'VE GOT but I just need to get my voice back to complete it. So, for now, this version of this song was completed first. I recorded my lead vocal in my home studio and took that recording to The CELL BLOCK Studio to complete overdubs of a picking style acoustic guitar, a backing vocal, tambourine, and drums. I layered heavily on the effects to give the recording some life that it was lacking from the old cassette version. I wrote the lyrics in about 5 minutes while “texting” a friend of mine to whom this song was meant for.
This is song #584.

Recorded at The CELL BLOCK Studio and MINE music Studio in Auburn, WA.

lyrics

You Know I Have To Go
And Be With My Love
(Solo)
Many Years Have Gone By,
But We Found Each Other's Light.
She's There And I Am Here,
But Our Souls Are Always Near.
She's Inside My Dreams
Where We Live So Happily.

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
