I ONCE HAD A PRETTY GIRL

about

When I wrote this song, I didn't want it to be a full length tune. It was more of a joke than anything. When I finally decided to record it, I played the insane engineer/musician by recording a couple dozen different instruments which I usually never use unless it's for an experimental song; and this one fit the bill. I had fun overdubbing all these weird instruments. I had things like a washboard, triangle, bongos, acoustic bass, harmonica, claves, and a bunch of other little stuff. The other part of this experiment was unique for me. I used an AKG Perception 220 microphone to record EVERYTHING, and I mean everything, including the drums. So, I used one microphone strategically placed to record the drums. That took a little figuring out, but it really didn't sound all that bad. This song was recorded for fun and that's the spirit in which I'm leaving it; short and simple.

This is song #256.

Recorded at The CELL BLOCK Studio in Auburn, WA.

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
