about

This is one my shortest “real” songs that I’ve written. Back in 1986, I recorded this song on a two track tape, with me on rhythm guitar and vocals and my father on bass. We recorded it live onto a cassette and I put it away. On Sept. of 2013, I cleaned up the tape and transferred it onto the Audacity sound editor and overdubbed the rest of the instruments. What’s unique about this song, besides the way I recorded it, is the fact that it has absolutely zero amount of effects. No reverb, no treble, no presence: nothing. It was recorded all dry on purpose. For the original recording back in 1986, my electric guitar was plugged into an Earth amplifier using only the volume. The tone on the guitar was also set at zero. The bass had no effects besides the volume and I used only the volume for the lead vocals. When it came to recording the rest of the instruments, I kept the idea of using no effects on any instruments. So, the drums, the backing vocals, the acoustic guitar was recorded and mixed entirely dry. It makes for a very unique and a bizarre sound.
The lyrics were more on the serious side and a bit dark. It was a time when I started to explore a few darker possibilities of songwriting and came up with some interesting ones to say the least.
This is song #190.

Recorded at The CELL BLOCK Studio in Auburn, WA.

lyrics

I Cry Everyday.
When I Whisper What I Whisper, I Say:
Leave My Life And Leave Me Where I Am.
I Shall Find The Rights For Human Man.

When You Call, When You Call, When You Call Me,
I Just Break Down And Cry.
Let It Go, Let It Go, Please Let It Go, So I Can Peacefully Die.

I Cry Everyday.
My Problems Just Can’t Go Away.
Let It Be What It Should Be For Me.
Then My Eyes May Open Up And See.

When You Call, When You Call, When You Call Me,
I Just Break Down And Cry.
Let It Go, Let It Go, Please Let It Go, So I Can Peacefully Die.

I Cry Everyday.
Let Me Die, Oh Let Me Die Today.
What It’s Worth Is What I’m Worth To Pay.
When I Die, They Tell Me It’s Okay.

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
