I CAN'T ROCK AND ROLL NO MORE

from international (2024 Remaster) by The Santairs

/

about

To me, this is another simple, straight forward rock and roll tune with a slight fun flair to it. The lyrics to this song is pretty much exactly what I wrote when I was 16 years old. The first line is a true story about when I played my first live performance at 15 years of age where the group played the song wrong. In other words, we were pretty bad, but we did gather up a few “fans” back then, and that was a first for me. And it was a good feeling. That particular feeling made this song possible, which is also why I wanted to keep this song purely intact as when I first wrote it. It's kind of like your first love. It's usually not your last and only love, but the purity of that feeling is what I wanted to try and convey in this tune.
This is song #147.

Recorded at The CELL BLOCK Studio in Auburn, WA.

lyrics

We Played Our First Song.
When We Played, We Played It Wrong.
Then I Saw A Girl There.
I'd Follow Her Everywhere.
When She Walked On Out That Door,
I Couldn't Rock And Roll No More.

I Wanted Her By My Side.
It Was A Love I Could Not Hide.
I Took Her Out And Started To Say,
“I Love You Girl In Every Way.”
Before I Drove Her Home,
I Said I Couldn't Rock No More. Wo!
(Solo)
I Knew That Love Would Come My Way.
Just How Long, I Could Not Say.
She's A Girl That Wouldn't Lie.
How I Love, I Don't Know Why.
Come On And Let Me Go,
'Cause I Can't Rock And Roll No More.

When We Started To Date,
It Was A Love That Could Not Wait.
I Had To Say To Myself,
I'll Take The Love And Give Up Wealth.
There Is One Thing That I Know,
I Ain't Gonna Rock And Roll No More.
I'm Not Gonna Rock And Roll No More.
I'm Not Gonna Rock And Roll No More.

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
