about

This song was written back around 1986 or so. It’s a simple story about two young people who love each other but just had a minor argument, but they think it may be over. They’re not experienced enough in the feelings oF love to know what they should do. So, they fight, make up, and discuss whether to keep on going. I re-wrote some of the lyrics in 2014 to flow a little better with the melody, but other than that, the story pretty much remains the same. Besides, I always wanted to write a song with me yelling the word “HEY.”
I took a different approach to recording and mixing this song as well. I used a fuzz bass sound using a guitar pick to pluck the strings and I used a late 50’s sounding effect replicated by the Boss GT-8 pedal I had, so the guitars would sound grittier. I also mixed it so it sounds louder than normal compared to the usual mixes I tend to do. Everything about this song, musically, needed to have that edge of overdrive that I was looking for.
This is song #57.

Recorded at The CELL BLOCK Studio in Auburn, WA.

lyrics

Hey, Won’t You Come Out And Play?
Hey, Can’t You Hear What I Say?
Then You Come On Runnin’ Back To Me Babe, And Then You Say
Hey, Do You Know What I Know?
Hey, You Don’t Want Me To Go?
As I Held You Near, Like I Do Everyday, I Just Wanted You To Stay.

You Like To Do All These Things To Me.
All I Wanted Was You Next To Me.

Hey, I Don’t Know What To Say.
Hey, It’s The Price That We Pay.
I Don’t Want You To Go. I Want You Even More. I Need You So, So
Hey, I Don’t Know What To Do.
Hey, 'Cause I’m Crazy ‘Bout You.
I Want You Now. I Won’t Go Away. Love Is Always Here To Stay.

What Can We Do? What Should We’ve Done?
We Had So Much Love And Fun.

Hey, Hey Now!
I Said Hey, I Don’t Want You To Go Now.
Hey!

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
