HARLON TOWN (FOREVER MORE)

from EXPERIMENTAL TAPE (2024 Remaster) by The Santairs

/

about

This is an unique song for me. Lyrically, I wrote this after immersing myself in the works of Edgar Allan Poe. Just as a piece of basic poetry, it conjures up some interesting and bizarre images. I came up with the name of HARLON TOWN simply because it “sounded” eerie when I said it, so vocally, while singing it, it gave a tonality I liked. As far as the music is concerned, this was the first REAL song I wrote that had some AVANT-GARDE stuff thrown in. I didn't have the proper equipment to get everything I wanted when I first recorded it back in the mid-80's, but I overdubbed everything that I knew I wanted in it, using my 2 track recorder. I even had an authentic sitar at the end of the song, performed by my friend Jerry O'Neill. Even though I have more of a professional studio at my disposal today, I didn't want to lose or change the essence of the original recording I did back in the 80's, so I used the recording I had and added drums and a few other effects to finalize this song. This was one of those recordings I had where I was just waiting for the technology to catch up to my ideas so I would be able to complete it.
This is song #205.

Recorded at The CELL BLOCK Studio in Auburn, WA.

lyrics

Yesterday I Came To Harlon Town Again.
How Long Can I Sleep? How Long Has It Been?
Torturing My Soul, Nowhere To Go
Forever More.

Rain Hits The Ground, A War Has Grown.
People Run And Hide, Dying On Their Own.
Weary Is My Life. Nothing Here To Know
Forever More.

When I Know The World Has Died,
Memories Will Cease. Nothing More To Cry.
It's Such A Tease.

Yesterday I Died In Harlon Town Again.
I Was Raped And Killed, Living In Sin.
I Have Lost My Life. Nothing More To Show
Forever More.
(Solo)
Yesterday I Died In Harlon Town Again.
I Was Raped And Killed, Living In Sin.
I Have Lost My Life. Nothing More To Show
Forever More.

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
