about

In the mid-90's, I bought some kind of inexpensive effects pedal for the bass. After playing with it for a short while, I decided not to use it during live performances since it really didn't meet my expectations. The pedals nowadays are much better and I'd have more uses in the studio for them. In 2015, I decided to actually record all the sounds this pedal had to offer (which was a few dozen or so) and I used an Epiphone bass. I thought about using a pick, but decided just to use my fingers and play nonsensically. This gave it the avant-garde feel that I wanted. This was an experiment I wanted to do for over 20 years, so it took this long to get around to it. As you can hear, there weren't too many sounds that were very useful. I think, out of all the sounds the pedal had to offer, I'd only use 3 of them at the most. The sounds I can get out of the amplifiers and basses themselves are much better than what I can get with this particular pedal. However, that being said, I did have fun for about 5 minutes twiddling around. (NOTE: I thought about deleting all the "clicks" within the recording, but I decided against it. I performed this piece live, as is, and with every click, it meant it was going into a different sound on the pedal, so I kept it in for that particular reason.)
This is recording #444.

Recorded at The CELL BLOCK Studio in Auburn, WA.

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
