This is it. This is the VERY FIRST song I ever wrote, but I didn't finish it until 8-18-2016. I first had this riff in my head at the age of 7, putting this around 1976 or so. Around the age of 12 or 13, this was the first riff I played, trying to find the notes on the guitar. (I didn't learn to actually play guitar until I was 15.) After writing a bunch of songs over my lifetime, I could never find a place to use or put this, but that changed about a year ago. I got the idea to just make it an instrumental and modulate until I returned to the original key. And middle C is common for piano, so that's where the song starts and ends. It's pretty much straight forward and nothing spectacular, but the feeling of completing it was a very good one, like climbing a mountain (for me anyway.)
