EVERYBODY LOVES THE GIRL NEXT DOOR

from Sequence by Rice Cracker Project

/

about

This particular recording was done with the group I write and record with called RICE CRACKER PROJECT. I wrote the song back in 1986 or so, and it was to be a bit “risqué” as far as the meaning was concerned, with double entendre and innuendo. The story may seem to be about a prostitute or a very “open” or “loose” female, but the idea behind it was about a woman who was an adult “maid” hired to clean and please everyone because it was her job. Some people may find this song off putting or down on women. I don’t feel that way. I actually think it’s silly more than anything else. I like the riff I came up with for it. The “intro” to the song wasn’t written until 2010 when I decided the song just wasn’t long enough and I wanted to add a silly flavor to it by diverting the listener as if they’re thinking it’s a polka or something. I remember that the actual title of the song, before I had written the song, came about because of Olivia Newton-John. Everyone called her “the girl next door” and that “everybody loved her” because of her wholesome looks and beautiful voice so, hence, the title.

Recorded at The CELL BLOCK Studio in Auburn, WA.

lyrics

EVERYBODY LOVES THE GIRL NEXT DOOR.
EVERYBODY WANTS TO GIVE HER MORE.
ANY WAY YOU WANT IT, ANY WAY YOU PLEASE,
SHE’LL GO DOWN ON HANDS AND KNEES.
ALL SHE WANTS IS A MAN LIKE YOU OR ME (OR THREE.)

EVERYBODY LOVES THE GIRL NEXT DOOR.
ALL SHE DOES IS GIVE YOU MORE.
SHE’LL GIVE YOU A NIGHT OF ENDLESS PLEASURE.
SHE’LL DO ANYTHING FOR YOUR LEISURE.
ALL SHE NEEDS IS A MAN THAT SHE CAN PLEASE.
(SOLO)
EVERYBODY WANTS TO GET AHEAD.
THE GIRL NEXT DOOR THEY’LL TAKE INSTEAD.
EVERY LITTLE BOY, EVERY GROWN MAN,
THE GIRL NEXT DOOR THEY CAN’T UNDERSTAND.
SHE’S THE BEST KIND OF GIRL FOR ALL WHO CAN.

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
