about

This song was recorded at Audio Recording, Inc. in Seattle by legendary engineer, Kearney Barton (who recorded The Kingsmen “Jolly Green Giant” of “Louie, Louie” fame, The Sonics “Psycho”, The Frantics “Werewolf”, and many others.) It was an 8 track analog studio, recorded onto 1 inch reel tape.
This song was recorded along with 13 other songs in a 12 hours session. It was the first session where I met Kearney Barton. I wanted to do this since I knew The Beatles recorded some of their best sounding stuff very much like this. To this day, I like the fast pace of music since it seems more lively to me. By taking too long on a song and second guessing yourself, you tend to bog down the creative process. I'd rather have a few rough areas, and even mistakes in songs, rather than spending months on a perfect recording that stifles creativity. This song features Wayde Brown (me) on guitar, lead and backing vocals; my dad Clinton Brown on backing vocal and bass, Bill Fletcher on drums, and Sam Haylor on backing vocal. I remember after the session was over, Kearney said he was very impressed at what we accomplished, especially since we never met before and had barely talked about a game plan. We kind of just went in and did it. The 12 hours included a quick, rough mix down as well. With the Audacity program, I made some minor adjustments. The entire song was too fast so I was able to slow it down by around 15 seconds, giving it the feel that I was looking for. I retarded the song near the end where there originally wasn't one. I extended the guitar intro by 2 seconds to make it 4 seconds long instead of just 2. I also added a 4th higher part harmony on just the last line of the last chorus to give it a fuller sound. Even though I am not happy with my lead vocal, everything else seems to be pretty much on track and I didn't want to lose this just because of an average lead vocal part on my end.
To finish off this particular mix, I had to convert it from a cassette format onto the Audacity program on my computer with a JVC TD-W254 Double Cassette Deck 3 motor Silent Mechanism.
This is the 96th song I wrote. I wrote this song after I wrote “I Love You Again,” a country song. So, it seems I was in a country mood at the time. I know I also patterned my singing a little to The Beatles “I'm A Loser” specifically where the vocals hit the low notes at the end of every other line in the verse. I feel the choruses are very strong and fit the song perfectly. I remember when I first wrote it, my dad thought it was about him. I told him it was about me. We both agreed that it was meant for anyone who could relate to it. I wrote this song within 15 minutes while my dad watched.

Recorded at Audio Recording, Inc. in Seattle, WA. and MINE music Studio in Auburn, WA.

lyrics

Each Night I Cry. I Wonder Why. Every Night I Die When You're Away.
Each Night I Pray, Every Single Day, And Here I'll Stay Waiting For You.

Oh Darlin', I'm So Alone. I Think Of You Every Time You're Gone.
When Will These Heartaches Ever End? It's You I Love And I Hope To Be Your Friend.

Each Night I Dream Of You And Me. Every Night It Seems To Be Just For You.
Each Night Is So Blue When I'm Not With You. My Dreams Will Come True If You Love Me.

Each Night Is For You My Love. You Are The One I'm Thinking Of.
We Will Be So Happy, Just You And Me. You Know Our Love Was Just Always Meant To Be.

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
