about

This song was recorded at Audio Recording, Inc. in Seattle by legendary engineer, Kearney Barton (who recorded The Kingsmen “Jolly Green Giant” of “Louie, Louie” fame, The Sonics “Psycho”, The Frantics “Werewolf”, and many others.) It was an 8 track analog studio, recorded onto 1 inch reel tape. We recorded two songs this session; the other being CAUSE I MISS YOU. This was the simple one of the two songs, though it’s twice as long as most of my songs. We recorded the lead vocal and rhythm guitar, bass, and drums live. I overdubbed the rest at a later time. I had the engineer throw in panned cheering and clapping since I never had that in a song and thought it would be kind of funny.
To finish off this particular mix, I had to convert it from a cassette format onto the Audacity program on my computer with a JVC TD-W254 Double Cassette Deck 3 motor Silent Mechanism.
The Players: Wayde Brown (me)on lead vocals, guitars, bongos, and tambourine; Sean Crain on bass, piano; and Mike Penland (son of drummer Dan Penland who performed with us on many occasions) on drums. In 2012, I put in some minor backing vocals at my home studio.
This is song 384th that my records state I wrote and recorded sometime in 1990-91. A friend of mine, Sean Crain, came up with the intro riff and I took it from there and wrote the rest of it. It was fairly easy to write, taking only about 30 minutes to complete. I was inspired by CCR and some of their long songs, so I added a lengthy solo halfway through the song to the end. It was a fun recording experience.

Recorded at Audio Recording, Inc. in Seattle, WA. and MINE music Studio in Auburn, WA.

lyrics

I Feel Good Tonight.
I Try My Best To Love You And Make It Right.

You Tell Me What To Do.
I Can’t Live My Life The Way I Want To.

I Try My Best Everyday,
But I Don’t Know What Words To Say.
I Feel Like I’m On Fire.
How Can I Control This Desire?

I Want You So Bad.
The Way You Talk To Me Drives Me Mad.

I Laugh, You Cry.
Of Everything That I Feel, I Wonder Why.

I Dream That You’ll Be Mine,
Together Forever In Time.
My Soul Has Caught On Fire.
How Can I Control Such Desire?
(Solo)

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
