about

Of the several songs I wrote about this person, this was my favorite one, and it's ironic that I never recorded it before. I think I wrote it just before we quit seeing each other. Little did I know that this was going to turn out to be a sort of a country tune. I just saw it simply as a ballad. Sirena actually helped with a couple words like “love is hate and hate is love WE say” where I originally had “YOU” instead. She thought it would be stronger to just speak the truth since I felt that way too, and not just hide behind my lyrics, which I did many times prior. The lines of the first bridge was something she stated to me after we'd have an argument; that she was my friend and she wanted me and yet despised me at the same time. We truly had a love/hate relationship that could have been so much more, but our personalities were so strongly opposite on certain issues, there was no compromising for either of us. Musically, the part of this song that intrigued me the most was the bass part my father wrote. I liked the movement and how it flowed, so I kept the gist of his performance in this song, though I performed all the instruments myself.
This is song #191.

Recorded at The CELL BLOCK Studio in Auburn, WA.

lyrics

Dear Sirena, What Did I Say,
Dear Sirena, To Make You Feel This Way?
And I Know I Love You So That I Cannot Hide.
Dear Sirena, I Want To Make Love With You.
Dear Sirena, No One Else Will Ever Do.
And I Know I Won't Let Go. That's What I Feel Inside.

I've Been Told By A Very Good Friend That You Love Me.
This Friend Had Said That You Want Me And Yet Despise Me.
My Friend Is You And You Taught Me What I Never Saw Before.
My Eyes Are Open Only To You, That's All.

Dear Sirena, Let Me Hold You Through The Night.
Dear Sirena, Let Us Do What We Think Is Right.
And I Say It'll Be Okay. That You Can Believe.
(Solo)
And You Know I Can't Let Go. That's What I Believe

When I Say That It All Will Be Good Someday,
The Problems We Have Will Surely Go Away.
Love Is Hate And Hate Is Love We Say.
That Is Why I Feel I Love You In This Way.

Dear Sirena, I Shall Never Forget
You Sirena. I'm Forever In Your Debt.
I Love You. Yes I Do. That I Will Not Hide.
You're In My Mind. Dear Sirena, Dear Sirena.

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
