about

This was the first blues/rock tune I wrote. It’s as simple as simple gets. I think I was about 15 or 16 years old. It’s not about anyone in particular. For this recording, I kept the first take on drums, the first take on bass, and the first take on rhythm guitar. I got the lead guitar within 3 takes and the lead vocal in 2 takes. The whole idea was to try to keep it as simple as possible, mistakes and all. I played the bass mostly with my fingernails—a technique I never tried and probably will never try again, but it did give it that thumping yet plucky feel at the same time. I also disguised my voice fairly harshly, never having done that before on an actual recording. I call it my crossover voice of Louis Armstrong and Yoda—and probably a little bit of Gollum. This is song #40.

Recorded at The CELL BLOCK Studio in Auburn, WA.

lyrics

I Said Hey Darlin’, Yes My Darlin’,
Come On Home Where You Belong.
I Said Now Darlin’, Come Here Darlin’
Where You Belong, Where You Belong.
If You Stay, I Hope You’ll Stay Long.
Come On Darlin’.

I Said Baby. I Want You Baby.
Come Here Now. You Will See.
I Said Hey Baby. Come Here Baby,
Where You Will See. You Will See.
You Need To Stay And Be With Me.
Come On Baby.

I Tried So Hard To Please You,
You’re Thinkin’ You’re Alright.
But I’ve Got Some Moves Myself
And We’ll Be Goin’ Out All Night. Ow!
(Solo)
I Said Now Darlin’, Be My Darlin’.
We Will Love And Be Home Free.
I Said Hey Darlin', I Want You Darlin’.
I Want To See. I Want To See.
If You Come, Just Stay With Me
Come On Darlin’, Come On Darlin’, Come On Darlin’, Come On Darlin’!

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
