about

This song was recorded at Audio Recording, Inc. in Seattle by legendary engineer, Kearney Barton (who recorded The Kingsmen “Jolly Green Giant” of “Louie, Louie” fame, The Sonics “Psycho”, The Frantics “Werewolf”, and many others.) It was an 8 track analog studio, recorded onto 1 inch reel tape. Before recording this song, the drummer in the group got married and moved away, so I was left without a drummer. This is one of the first few songs where I ended up performing the drums. I was never trained nor had any real practice time concerning the drums, so I had to learn quickly on my own. I played most of the instruments on this song. The recording session went by very quickly. I think the entire time spent on this song was less than 3 hours.
To finish off this particular mix, I had to convert it from a cassette format onto the Audacity program on my computer with a JVC TD-W254 Double Cassette Deck 3 motor Silent Mechanism. The players: Wayde Brown (me) on drums, lead and backing vocals, and guitar, and Sean Crain on bass and backing vocals.
This was the 30th song that I wrote during my first couple of months writing songs. It’s about as simple as it can get. I did use many of the phrases in this song to write other songs later in my life, like “Sweet, Sweet Baby,” “She’s A Girl,” and “The Kind Of Girl.” I don’t remember what inspired me to write it except I always liked the drum beat to songs like these, alike “Willie and the Hand Jive,” and "Bo Diddley". I do remember the ending of this song was inspired by The Beatles song “You Can’t Do That.” It has the same idea for an ending. And yes, Phil Phillips “Sea Of Love” got me started with this song since I took that line and wrote a song around it.

lyrics

I Want You To See That Your Love For Me Is What I Really Need.
Don’t Go With Him 'Cause I Want You By My Side And Please Don’t Ever Leave.
Do You Still Love Me Even Though You Left Me Far Behind The Door?
I Know You Do And I Want You Too And I Need Your Sweet, Sweet Lovin’ Even More.
Just Come With Me And You Will See What I Mean.

You’re The Kind Of Girl That Makes Me Want To Scream And Shout And Dance And Sing.
I Came To You To Say I Love You And To Give You This New Diamond Ring.
I Want You To Say You Love Me And To Never Leave Me On My Own.
'Cause If You Do We’ll Start Anew And I Will Give You A New Home.
So Come With Me To See What I Mean Right Now.

She’s My Girl And I Don’t Care What They Say.
I Want Her Now And I’ll Go All The Way.
So Stop This Game 'Cause You Are Gonna Lose.
It’s Me She Wants And It’s Me She’s Gonna Choose. Oh!

Now She’s Here You’re Gonna See That She Really Wants Me And She Knows She’s Mine.
We Love Each Other And Adore Another And Everything Is Goin’ Just Fine.
She Wants Me Now And She’ll Get Me Now And I’ll Give Her Anything That Money Can Buy.
But Now She Left Me And I Can’t Go On And I Don’t Know What To Do Besides To Cry.
I Can’t Go On If She Is Gone From My Life.

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
