COME RUN TO ME, BABY

from EMOTIONAL INCEST (2024 Remaster) by The Santairs

about

This was recorded at my home studio with Audacity, a free, open source software for recording and editing sounds on my 160GB, 3.2 GHZ Pentium IV HP computer made back in 2004. I upgraded the memory to 2GB. Only 512 MB of memory originally came with the computer. This song was performed on basic equipment, from a Fender Deluxe Stratocaster for guitar parts played through a Crate 120 Watt solid state amp, a small Peavey 50 watt bass amp, a Cameo bass guitar, a Royce drum set, and a set of $10-30 computer microphones, all while capturing the sounds as I performed them live without a real time compressor or mixer, making it quite the challenge to balance the entire sound.
This is the 10th song that I wrote, and was, up to that time, my father's favorite rock tune I wrote. I took elements of Eddie Cochran's “Summertime Blues” and The Beatles “I Saw Her Standing There” and “A Hard Day’s Night” and came up with this song. I originally had it start like The Beatles song with a 1-2-3-4 count, but changed it to just a one drum stick hit. I did a recording of this with engineer Kearney Barton of Audio Recording, Inc., but it was one of a half dozen songs that were never finished properly where I could release it to anyone, so I redid everything.

Recorded at MINE Music Studio in Auburn, WA.

lyrics

I Was Standin' On The Street, And There She Comes.
She Said There's Lotta Time For Lovin' And A Lot Of Time For Fun.
She Knows How To Love Me And She Says What's Done Is Done.

She Said, “I Know How To Dance And I Know Just What To Do.”
I Said, “I Know How To Dance And I Wanna Dance With You.”
Come Run To Me Baby, And I'll Come Runnin' To You.

I Said, “Run To Me Baby. You Drive Me Crazy—Oo!
Run To Me Baby, Oh No!
Come Run To Me Baby And I'll Come Runnin' To You.” Ow
(Solo)
Now The Time Has Come For Me To Leave You Baby.
The Old Man Said That You Don't Act Like A Lady.
Well, We'll Run Away From Him And He Won't Know Where We've Been,
That's For Sure.

I Said, “Run To Me Baby. You Drive Me Crazy—Oo!
Run To Me Baby, Oh Yea!
Come Run To Me Baby And I'll Come Runnin' To You.
Come Run To Me Baby And I'll Come Runnin' To You.
Come Run To Me Baby And I'll Come Runnin' To You.”

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
