about

Now here’s a weird experiment within an experiment. I was recording the now infamous Jimmy Swaggart sex scandal sermon back in 1988. As a younger person back then (I was 18 years old at the time this took place), I thought this entire incident was totally hypocritical where a preacher purposely sins while pretending to be something else. This has been repeated so many times since that day by many other preachers, politicians, actors, athletes and so on. No wonder so many people think the end of the world is near. Anyway, when this was showing on television, I decided to get my acoustic guitar and record the television program of his apology and play in the background, performing whatever came to mind. Some of this was to get a feel of how to write songs for a movie and how they would approach it. The other part was just truly an experiment to see what it would sound like with two microphones picking up the television and me performing at the same time. I also did some improvisational singing while performing. It wasn’t ever meant to be worked out again and used for anything except an exercise in experimentation only. Part way through the performance, one of the microphones malfunctioned so I ended up having, pretty much, a mono recording. I used the Audacity software and music editor to mix the recording I had which was on a Fuji DR type I (normal) position 60 minute cassette tape. I transferred it from my Denon stereo cassette tape deck DRM-700, 3-head silent mechanism/dual power supply system.
This makes for recording/song #293.

Recorded at The CELL BLOCK Studio in Auburn, WA.

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
