about

This was the middle solo of the song I wrote called LONG DISTANCE BEWARE. When it came time to record the song “for real”, I changed the solo a little bit, so this demo version of the solo sounds like it came from a different song. Usually these demos I made back as a teenager were for reference only, but I decided to save this one to showcase one aspect of my “childhood” recordings. I had a two track recorder for most of these demos, but at times, I would add a 3rd part to a song, which I had to “ping-pong” because I didn't have more than 2 tracks to work with. And as one can tell when listening, the degradation of sound from the instruments becomes significant, at least to my ears. It almost detracts from the entire song/demo to add a 3rd instrument or track, so I usually just stopped at two instruments, which would usually be a guitar and lead vocal on one track, and a bass (and sometimes backing vocal) on the 2nd track. Again, when I made these demos, 95% of them were for reference only, so I didn't much care for the quality, but there are a few songs I took the time to make it sound as best as possible since I knew I'd be coming back one day to finish off these recordings in the future. (This recording wasn't one of them.) But it made for an interesting demonstration of how I did things back in my youthful days, learning how to pan things back and forth to the best of my limited abilities back then.
This is recording #620.

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
