BEATIN' NO BEAT PROGRESSION [I'M NOT NO DRUMMER]

about

I had a drum set when I was a toddler. I think we got rid of it before I reached my teen years. Before my next set, I was in my late teens, so I didn't have anything to pound on for drums, and I was writing songs when I turned 15. So, during this time, I decided to use whatever was around and bang on them, from walls, floors, buckets, pans, cans, etc. (I did have a pair of drums sticks.) Sandy Nelson's BIRTH OF THE BEAT was an influence on this silly avant-garde recording project. I loved his idea and took it one step further (or backwards depending on your definition), feeling that the next thing drummers would beat on would be anything that was laying around; in a way, kind of like what I did. This recording was pretty much just me getting some of my frustrations out at the time, and it wasn't meant to be melodic or even musical. It was just a fun little recording of noises I accomplished.
This is recording #250.

Recorded at The CELL BLOCK Studio in Auburn, WA.

about

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
