about

It’s another of “those” songs again. I had this beat and rhythm stuck in my head since I watched the first Addams Family movie, when I saw the scene of the Mamushka dance. I thought it was so hilarious and a beat formed around that one word, “Mamushka.” It has the same syllables as “Baboon Butt.” And hence, the Baboon Butt song came to life. So, I’ve been pondering this song for over two decades now. I went to my studio and recorded all the parts. It took much longer than I anticipated. I thought I would be able to throw this thing together in an hour or so, but it took closer to 3 hours. I did the drums first, then the bass, playing it in places as if it were a lead guitar, and then put a rhythm guitar part, and lastly the lead guitar with “daydream” effects. I was actually starting to like this song as a pure instrumental, but I just had to go and screw it up since those two words have been stuck in my head and must get out somehow. So, I added the low vocal, chanting “Ba-ba-baboon butt” over and over again. I took my final vocal track and duplicated it with the computer. I pitched down the vocal to a point where it was so low, the speakers started shaking. Then, I knew I had what I wanted. The song is insane but funny at the same time. After writing a couple silly songs in a row, I think I’ve gotten enough of that out of my system to where I can start doing other things again.

This is song #534.

Recorded at The CELL BLOCK Studio in Auburn, WA.

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
