about

Originally, written in the early 90’s, this song was recorded by engineer Kearney Barton at Audio Recording, Inc. It’s the 405th song I wrote. While taking my cat to the vet (where he later, unfortunately, died of FIP) there was a receptionist with the name tag “Angela.” It’s a name I always liked, but when I saw the name with my eyes, it sparked the inspiration to the song. The song is actually a sad one, concerning the loss of a loved one. It’s along the vein of the song I wrote called CAUSE I MISS YOU. Not sure why I chose that particular subject, but it turned out to be one of my better tunes.
This new mix will make it recording #556. I originally performed this song with Bill Fletcher on drums, Sean Crain on bass, and me on lead vocals and guitar back in 1991. It was the last performance by The Santairs with these particular musicians, which was pretty much the “original” members of The Santairs. I did 4 takes of this song, and I combined takes 1 and 2 to get this particular mix. Even from one take to the other, the song remains fairly close to RICE CRACKER PROJECT'S version, but much less refined. You can also hear some of the words are different in a couple of places. The lead vocal tracks don't exactly match perfectly, but for this particular version, I wanted to share what the song sounded like in the very beginning, before RICE CRACKER PROJECT took it and finished it. For this version, I am retitling it “Angela” which was the original title I had for the song before I added “Angel” at the end of it.

Recorded at Audio Recording, Inc. in Seattle, WA.

lyrics

Angela, You Took My Heart And Left Me With An Emptiness;
And I Feel The Pain That We All Call Loneliness,
But Whatever I May Say You’re Still So Far Away.
And No Matter What I Feel, I Can Tell (You) My Love Is Real.

Angela, You Felt So Soft, And Your Voice Still Calls To Me.
Whisper Your Thoughts, And Show Me What You See!
But What Can I Do If I Cannot Be With You?
And I Pray Everyday, And Hope To See You Soon.

Can You Hear My Words That I Speak From My Heart?
Can You Feel All That I Know?
Will We Be As One Forever In Time?
I Can’t Bear To Let You Go! Oh!
(Solo)
Angela, Dear Angela, You’re My Angel In My Dreams.
I Sleep With You Every Night, Yet I’m Lonely As Can Be.
And I Don’t Know What To Say ‘Cause You’ve Gone So Far Away.
And The Tears I’ve Shed For You Have Gone On So Long.

Can You Ease The Pain That I Keep Hidden Inside?
There Is Nothing To Live For.
All That I Feel Seems To Have Died.
It Is Time To Let You Go!

The Santairs Auburn, Washington

I am a musician, singer, and songwriter doing this part-time but have been doing it all my life. I started singing before I could talk at the age of one, and wrote my first real song at 15 years of age. (If you count avant-garde as a song, then the age would be 7.) I currently own my own recording studio; and I write, perform, and record my own music (and other's from time to time.) I am Santairs. ... more
