I don't remember much about what inspired this tune. It just kind of came out, and I think I wrote this within a couple hours. Something about Johnny Ace's song “Pledging My Love” may have helped inspired some of this tune. I know this was a time I was writing a lot of sad songs in a row. This may have been about some of the assisted suicide stories I was hearing in the news at the time.
